2025 marks the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) — a milestone moment to recognize the incredible value, talent, and contributions that people with disabilities bring to our workplaces and communities. 💼💙
🕰️ NDEAM began in 1945 and was officially designated by Congress in 1988. Since then, it has evolved to highlight the importance of including individuals with all types of disabilities, including mental health conditions, in the workforce. In celebration of America’s upcoming 250th birthday in 2026, this year’s NDEAM theme is:

Do you love meeting new people and making a difference in your community? Are you passionate about inclusion and helping others find meaningful, fulfilling work? If you have at least one year of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or autism—we want to meet you!
We’re looking for a people person to join our team as an Employment Specialist, helping individuals with disabilities discover their strengths, prepare for work, and thrive on the job.
In this role, you’ll:
✅ Build relationships with local employers
✅ Coach and support individuals on their employment journey
✅ Promote inclusive hiring and equitable opportunities
✅ Work independently out in the community—with some flexibility to work from home
💬 You might be a great fit if you:
– Have at least one year of experience (work, volunteer, or personal) with people with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or autism
– Are outgoing, confident, and enjoy talking to new people
– Are dependable, organized, and driven to help others succeed
– Have experience in job coaching, supported employment, human services, or social work (a plus, but not required!)
This is not a fully remote job. It’s a hybrid role—you’ll spend most of your time out in the field working directly with people and some time working from home.
